KEARNEY — All classic cars, all the time.
That is how Steve Stickney operated for 20 years as Central Nebraska Auto Club’s Cruise Nite Committee chairman.
After he died in 2010, his energy was missed, but his presence will continue to be felt, say his sons Cory of Kearney and Logan of Denver as they take his beloved classic cars to The Bricks this weekend.
“It will bring back a lot of memories,” Cory said. “I remember as a kid going to car shows all across the state and northern Kansas. I think the whole time he was there he was comparing them to try to decide what the best direction to take Cruise Nite was.”
Under Steve’s guidance, what started as a small gathering of classic car lovers evolved into a nearly week-long community affair. That was what Steve, also known as “Stick,” had as the goal from the beginning.
“Looking at the big picture, it’s amazing that a group of people with a similar interest can do what they love doing and bring the entire community in to share in what they’re passionate about,” Cory said. “That was what my dad was trying to accomplish for so many years with doing so many different events to bring a lot of people into it.” [Read the full story at the Kearney HUB…]
